Yoga for retreats and wellbeing weekends

Guest and cover teaching across the Yorkshire Dales — a single session, a full weekend, or stepping in when your teacher can’t.

Who this is for

If you run a retreat, a venue or a wellbeing weekend in the Dales, you’ll occasionally need a teacher — for a single session, for a whole programme, or at three days’ notice because someone is ill.

I’m based in Skipton and available for all three. That might be a venue whose guests would like a session without wanting to employ a teacher; a retreat organiser building a programme and looking for the yoga part of it; a teacher running their own retreat who needs cover; or an organisation putting on a wellbeing day and wanting something gentle in it.

I teach slow, accessible yoga — slow flow, yin, restorative and breathwork — rather than anything strenuous. If your group wants a strong physical practice, I’m not the right fit, and I’d rather say so at the enquiry stage than on the day.

What I can teach

A single session of slow flow, yin or restorative. Morning and evening sessions across a weekend, shaped as a pair: something gently waking, something that helps people sleep. A guided relaxation on its own, which is useful as a closing hour and often the part people remember.

A series across a weekend, planned with you so it builds rather than repeats. Cover or guest teaching for a retreat that’s already running to someone else’s plan. Or a gentle session within a wellbeing or cancer-support event, where that’s the right fit.

On that last one: I teach a weekly class for people affected by cancer, so I’m used to groups where energy and health vary widely, and to offering options in a way that doesn’t draw attention to anyone. If your group has particular needs, tell me and I’ll plan around them rather than improvising on the day.

Three ways this usually works

One session

You have a programme and want one gentle hour in it. I turn up, teach, and leave you to the rest.

A weekend

Two or more sessions planned with you, so the arc of the weekend holds together instead of repeating itself.

Cover

Your teacher is ill or double-booked. Tell me what was planned and I’ll keep as close to it as I sensibly can.

Rates and practicalities

Rates depend on the number of sessions, the size of the group and the travel involved. Tell me what you’re planning and I’ll come back with availability and a price — there’s no charge for asking and no obligation either way.

I bring mats, blocks, bolsters and blankets, and for a larger group I’d ask the venue to provide the extra. We’ll always agree who is bringing what well before the day, so nobody arrives to a shortfall.

I carry public liability insurance and am happy to send a certificate before you book. Invoicing is after the event on standard terms, or a deposit if you’d prefer to hold dates.

On the day I need a room where everyone can lie down comfortably, somewhere to park reasonably close, and twenty minutes before the session to set up. That’s genuinely all.

Practical questions

Do you bring equipment, or should we?+

I bring mats, blocks, bolsters and blankets. For a larger group I’d ask the venue to provide the extra, and we’ll agree who’s bringing what well before the day so nobody arrives to a shortfall.

How large a group can you teach?+

The limiting factor is usually the room rather than the number — a space where everyone can lie down with their arms out and still hear me. Tell me the numbers and the room and I’ll give you an honest answer.

Can you cover at short notice?+

Often, yes. Do ring for anything sooner than you’d normally expect — cover is part of what this is for, and a no comes quickly if I can’t.

What styles do you teach?+

Slow flow, yin, restorative and breathwork, plus guided relaxation. All of it gentle and accessible. I don’t teach strong vinyasa, hot yoga or anything led by intensity.

Can you work with a group where people have health conditions?+

Yes. I teach a weekly class for people affected by cancer, so varied energy and mobility within one room is familiar ground. Tell me in advance what to expect and I’ll plan for it rather than adapt in front of everyone.

Tell me what you’re planning

Send me the dates, the rough numbers and what you have in mind, and I’ll come back with availability and a price. If I’m not the right fit for your group, I’ll say so.
