Online classes
Live online yin yoga, from the comfort of home
Long, quiet holds you can settle into wherever you are — with your own blankets, your own lamp, and no need to be seen.
A quiet way to end the day
Some evenings, the thought of getting in the car and walking into a room full of people is simply more than you have left. That doesn’t mean the practice isn’t for you. It means it can come to you instead.
This is a live class, taught in real time — not a recording you press play on. We settle together, move slowly through a handful of long-held shapes, and finish with a proper rest. The only difference is that you’re doing it in your own front room, in whatever you’re already wearing.
It suits people who’d like a quiet end to the day. People who find studios uncomfortable, for all sorts of reasons. People whose evenings are unpredictable, or whose energy is. And people who simply prefer to practise at home.
Yin travels well through a screen. Everything happens on the floor and is held for a few minutes at a time, so there’s no quick sequence to keep up with and nothing that needs adjusting by hand. Very little is lost — and you get your own blankets, your own lamp, and somewhere to lie down afterwards.
What to expect
Join from anywhere
If you have a patch of floor and a quiet hour, you can join — from the Dales or a good deal further away.
Camera off is welcome
Some people like being seen and greeted by name. Others would rather practise unwatched. Both are completely fine, and you’re welcome to change your mind week to week.
Nothing to buy
Cushions from the sofa, a folded blanket and a couple of books do the job perfectly well. There’s no kit list.
What you’ll need
Less than you might think.
A patch of floor, roughly your own length plus a little. A living room with the coffee table nudged aside is plenty.
Something soft underneath you — a mat if you have one, a folded blanket or a carpet if you don’t. Two or three cushions, and a blanket for the end, because you’ll cool down while you’re lying still.
A device you can prop up so you can see and hear me. A laptop on a chair tends to work better than a phone on the floor.
And an hour without interruption, if that’s possible. If it isn’t, come anyway.
You don’t need blocks or bolsters. If you have them, lovely. If you don’t, cushions and a couple of books do exactly the same job. Whether it’s your first yin class or your hundredth, you’re welcome exactly as you are.
Joining a class
Dates for the next online classes are being finalised. If you’d like to be told as soon as booking opens, send me a message and I’ll let you know — there’s no obligation in asking.
Classes run live over video at a set time each week, and booking is through Bookwhen, the same as the classes in Skipton.
Questions people often have
Do I need to have my camera on?+
No. Some people like being seen and greeted by name; others would rather practise unwatched. Both are welcome, and you can change your mind week to week — no need to tell me either way.
What if I’ve never done yin yoga before?+
That’s completely fine, and more common than you’d think. Yin is one of the gentlest places to start: everything happens on the floor, held for a few minutes at a time, and there are always options. You won’t be put on the spot, and nothing is expected of you beyond turning up.
What equipment do I need?+
A patch of floor and something soft. Cushions from the sofa, a folded blanket and a couple of books work perfectly well. If you have carpet, you may not need a mat at all.
What if my internet drops out?+
Just rejoin when you can. Nothing is missed that can’t be picked up, and you’re very welcome to simply rest where you are until you’re back.
Is there anything I should know if I’m pregnant, injured or unwell?+
Do send me a message before you book and we can talk it through. Yin is gentle, but there are some shapes I’d offer you differently, and it helps me to know.
There’s a place here for you
If you’d like to join, or you’d rather ask something first, send me a message and I’ll come back to you. No commitment needed.
